08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Thallan is a coachable C prospect who showed to be a real team player during his time at the Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown. Behind the plate, Thallan sits in a square stance to the pitcher and keeps his head down well when blocking balls in the dirt. Thallan can improve defensively by presenting a lower target and by working to receive the ball with softer hands. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride to the pitcher. He tracks the ball into the zone well and works to barrel up the baseball. Thallan can improve as a hitter by incorporating a load into his swing. With six more years to develop, Thallan has the time and potential to further progress his game.

05/21/2017 - Interactive Video Program - San Antonio, TX Thallan is an OF/C with an athletic build. Defensively in the OF, he takes active routes and gets behind the fly ball. He gets into an athletic position when fielding GB's and sets his feet when throwing to his intended target. Behind the plate, he moves well on his feet. He gains ground to block and picks low pitches in the dirt. With the stick, Thallan shows a balanced setup with smooth rhythm to load. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone as he looks to drive the ball back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Quicker 1st step
2. Develop soft hands
3. Clean exchange to throw
Catching
1. Present low target
2. Earn strikes
3. Better accurate throws
Offense
1. Improve bat speed
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
