10/23/2021 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) Thane is an OF/LHP who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame lean build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF, good reads off bat and efficient footwork enables him to take good routes to balls. Square fielding position as he fields ball out front with ability to make routine plays. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity of 72mph into infield. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher works with good tempo. Good direction towards plate and ability to throw strikes. Attacks hitters with a FB that was up to 72mph, a breaking ball 1/7 shape, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. In an inning of work, Thane induced weak contact. A left-handed hitter, starts with an athletic and open stance. Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Showed good awareness of the strike zone. Drew 2 walks and had 3 hits in live game action. Simple and balanced swing with ability to hit balls to all fields with a recorded bat exit velocity of 68mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

03/08/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Thane is a lean OF/LHP that has shown some nice improvements since we saw him last September. Defensively, he has good instincts, takes good angles and showed the ability to make some diving plays. He has a loose arm and makes accurate throws. On the mound, Herman stays direct to the target, has good balance and separation, and has a clean arm stroke with good extension. He generally throws strikes with all pitches. Offensively, Thane has an athletic stance, with a smooth approach. He swings on-plane and creates consistent contact in a gap to gap approach. Thane can improve with work on the following. Outfield 1. Stay online 2. Hands 3. Arm strength Pitching 1. Arm strength 2. Direct more consistently Offense 1. Bat speed 2. Stay centered throughout

09/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Thane is a young, thin, 2-way player who plays OF and LHP. Defensively, Thane has efficient footwork to the ball, a good 1st step, and he makes plays. He has firm hands, a clean exchange, and a good crow hop with consistency to his target. On the mound, this LHP keeps his eyes on target, he separates his hands on time, and has good glove side pull. He competes in the zone and his FB touched 54 MPH. Offensively, Thane has a tall/open stance, a short/square stride, and he stand in well balanced. He gets good extension through, hits line drives, and uses his lower body. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
