01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Theo continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm with impressive pop times of 1.96. Offensively, he continues to shine through an open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (88 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. He battles at the plate, going an impressive 6 for 8 with 6 singles and a walk at the event. Kummer is a gamer who leaves it all on the field and has the tools that will easily translate into a high level of play.

09/06/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frisco (DFW), TX Theo continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. He is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm with impressive pop times of 1.83-1.96. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth, fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting/power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

12/15/2018 - Texas Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend Theo is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Texas Skills Weekend. Behind the plate, Theo sits in a relaxed primary stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He gets into his secondary stance on time and gains ground well throwing. He makes a clean exchange, working to make accurate throws to 2B. He moves quickly to block and takes good angles to balls in the dirt. Theo can improve as a C by loosening his arm action. At the plate, Theo sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets his hands activated on time and hits from a strong front side. He takes a level swing with explosive bat speed and good extension, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. Consistently letting away pitches travel deeper can help Theo improve as a hitter. Overall, Theo is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
