12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Thomas continues to show consistency in his overall ability. On the mound, Thomas shows the ability to locate his fastball, his shoulders are level and shows on time separation. He shows good athleticism by being able to field his position well and made a great diving play coming off the mound. Thomas can work on his tempo when runners are on base, from the stretch he has the tendency to rush through his delivery, which can throw off his mechanics. Focus on reaching a gathering point from the stretch reaching a strong balance point. In the field, his hands are sure/soft with playable footwork. Continue to focus on playing through ground balls. Offensively, Thomas shows a good approach with the ability to use the entire field. His lower half looked better in Vero Beach and will continue to help with his power numbers. Hitting grades will increase with looser actions and by shortening his swing path. Thomas is a young player who shows abilities with room for improvement by focusing on the areas above.

06/27/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Pittsburgh, PA Thomas is a thin, average sized, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Thomas has playable hands and feet and he fields in a low / square position. He has some life in his feet, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency to his target. On the mound, Thomas has a long / free arm action, a tall balance point, and on-time separation. He has good direction toward home and finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Thomas has a square / tall set-up, good balance, and a line drive approach. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
