08/23/2009 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Thomas is an OF with an average high school frame. In the OF, Thomas has descent footwork, he takes good angles to the fly ball, and plays consistent catch. To become a better OF, recommendations for Cleveland would be to throw more against his front side, to get more extension and a better arm slot on his throws, and to get the glove to the ball earlier. At the plate, Thomas flashes good balance throughout his swing, he is strong, and stays on top allowing him the chance to drive the baseball. Cleveland would benefit from become more fluid on his swing, by relaxing to develop better instincts, and by staying through the ball and extending his arms out front.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
