Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

09/08/2019 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Thomas is an athletic OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Thomas gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Thomas improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact. Thomas can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Thomas shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 65-67mph with 10-4 break. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Thomas improve as a pitcher. Overall, Thomas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
