01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Thomas is a gifted LHP/1B out of Katy, TX in the 2024 class. In the field, he has active feet and centers his body to the baseball. Has a firm glove and pocket feel. Shows bag awareness and is a solid defender for his INF’s. On the mound Thomas struck out 11 of the 15 batters he faced. He has a simple set-up and builds tempo as he progresses in games. He hides the ball well from a ¾ slot. His FB sat 80-3 and worked both sides of the plate with run. His CB had sudden sharp break and excellent depth. His CH sat 73-5 with fb arm speed and run/cut actions. At the plate, he shows a direct path and uses the middle of the field well. Bats speed plays at 82 exit velo and his hard line drive production will get him looks for the next level. Thomas has a bight future as a two-way player and scouts are eager to see his development at future BF events.

11/18/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Fall Prospects Tournament (HS) Thomas is a 2024 LHP/1B who showcased his skills during the Fall Prospects Tournament. At 1B, Thomas showed good range and soft hands that work out front. He worked to center the baseball and presents a big target at first base. He fields from an athletic/low fielding position with a low funnel. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 83mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance with loose hands. Has a controlled load, with smooth rhythm to swing, and showed good barrel control. An on-plane swing enables him to hit balls into both gaps with a with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph during BP. During the games, he showed good plate discipline and reached base 4 times. A left-handed pitcher he has long levers and a projectible frame. He has good feel for pitching and works at the bottom of the strike zone. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 79mph with good movement, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup with good movement in the zone. He does a good job of slowing the run game down and fields his position. In 3 innings of work, he struck out 5. Thomas is hard working 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

09/21/2022 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic (2024) Thomas continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities at the Arizona Jr Fall Classic. On the mound, delivery is sound/repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his low ¾ arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with tailing action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. At 1B, he shows active footwork and presents his glove out front to field. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. He has a quick release and allows his throws to remain accuracy and carry through his target. At the plate he continues shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with 2B and 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is a quiet leader, very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/30/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Houston, TX Thomas is a class of 2024 LHP/1B prospect with a good frame and some athletic ability. At the plate, he does a great job of keeping his approach through the middle of the field and keeping his barrel in the zone. Has a line drive approach and creates consistent square contact. Does a good job using his lower 1/2 throughout his swing. Showed power potential with exit velos up to 87 MPH. In the field, he does a good job keeping his feet moving and working downhill towards the baseball. He shows clean exchanges and a good arm action to help create consistent and accurate throws across the diamond. Shows lots of energy and effort when fielding. On the mound, he does a good job of trying to work ahead and work down in the strike zone. Shows clean mechanics overall and has a good arm action. Best pitch is his fastball with run and up to 78 MPH. Showed a knuckleball in the 55-58 MPH range while his curveball worked in a 2-8 direction in the 60-64 MPH range. Thomas is a well rounded prospect with another 2 years to continue to develop before entering college.

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Thomas is a 1B/LHP prospect who showcased his skills during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Thomas makes the routine plays and shows the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, this RHH generates fast bat speed through the zone and gets good extension, driving the ball up the middle. On the mound, Thomas gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Thomas operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 63-64mph with 1-7 break. Overall, Thomas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Thomas continues to sine on the diamond. At the plate, hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 2B. Defensively, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Feet are active but needs to attack balls and play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-72 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Thomas.

03/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Tomball (Houston), TX Thomas is a 2024 LHP/1B. Tall frame athletic build with some strength in lower half with plenty of room and time to develop. Thomas continues to improve all facets of his game. Primary left-handed pitcher, throws from a 3/4 arm slot with simple/clean mechanics. Works down the mound and planes out. 3 pitch pitcher who continues to improve command. FB was up to 73mph with arm side run. Mixed in a developing curveball with 2/8 shape and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. Command will improve as he refines his mechanics and improves his arm strength. Secondary 1B, active feet and ability to pick out hops. Loose arm and clean transfers allow Thomas to throw from multiple arm angles. Showed touch on his DP feeds and good bag awareness during his workout. Right-handed hitter, hits from a tall and open stance. Short/square stride with an on-plane barrel path. Showed quick hands to the ball with late bat whip. Showed ability to hit line drives into both gaps during his BP round. 4 years of continued growth and development should give him the opportunity to play at the next level.

12/28/2020 - Winter Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Thomas is an athletic/projectable (6'0"/204) RHH 2-way player (LHP/1B) who shines in a variety of ways on the diamond. In the field he got in a relaxed ready position with his big frame, and got in a great fielding position that let us know Thomas was ready to play. Even more impressive, in 5 at-bats he would post 4 hits. This stems from his active load, quiet stance, and balanced approach to his at-bats. We can’t forget his 3 K’s in 2 innings on the bump! Thomas would get this done with a 68 mph fastball and a developing curve and changeup. With a little lower half activation, Thomas will continue to grow even more confident in all of his pitches. Overall, Thomas is a talented prospect who has a ton of upside as he is only a freshman this year.

06/05/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Thomas is a LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Thomas gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline toward the plate and extends through his release, finishing square to his target. Thomas shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 60-62mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 66-67mph. Taking a smaller rock step can help Thomas improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He gets back into his load and works to barrel up the baseball, driving the ball to his pull side. Thomas can improve as a hitter by getting into his load sooner. With four more years to develop, Thomas has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/26/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Mont Belvieu (Houston), TX Thomas continues to progress in his abilities and did so at his last workout in Houston. At 1B, Thomas covers ground well through efficient footwork. He has a firm/presentable glove, fields in a square position, and throws with momentum and accuracy from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, this LHP has a repeatable delivery, can pitch from multiple arm slots, and is a strike thrower. Offensively, Thomas has a tall stance, a short stride, and swings on plane. He makes square contact, can spray to all fields, and uses some lower body. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Thomas continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. His feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 68 mph. Fastball showed a range of 61-68 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Thomas is a coachable LHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training at the College World Series. On the mound, Thomas gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Thomas shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 55-57mph with 1-7 break. Extending through his release more can help Thomas improve as a pitcher. In the field, Thomas gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and throws from a high 3/4 angle, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. Thomas can improve defensively by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a small load and takes a level swing, leading to solid contact to his pull side. Driving his lower half more can help Thomas improve as a hitter. With five more years to develop, Thomas has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

05/05/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Bryan (College Station), TX Thomas showed improvements on the mound and at the plate during his last workout with The Factory. He increased velocity to 66 MPH, showing a simple delivery, a clean arm circle, and good extension. Thomas stands over the rubber well balanced, he has a controlled landing toward the plate, and he finishes in a complete position. At 1B, Thomas has good bag awareness, footwork is efficient, and he fields squarely, with momentum and carry to his target. At the plate, Thomas has a tall set-up, fast bat speed, and he works the middle of the field. He swings on plane, works the ball gap to gap, and he uses his lower body. Abilities can get better with work on the following.

02/17/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Crosby (Houston), TX Thomas is a young, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Thomas has efficient footwork, soft hands, and he moves well to the ball. He has good range to the glove side, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a long action action to his target. On the mound, this LHP has a clean arm circle, good balance, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He is direct to the plate and competes in the zone. Offensively, Thomas has a tall set-up, a short/square stride, and good balance. He has a level/direct swing path and uses his lower body. Thomas can continue to improve overall skills with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
