01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Thomas is a 6'/225 lbs 1B that displayed consistency in his game on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he showed quick hands to hit with fluidity and rhythm. He worked the barrel on-plane through contact and was consistent getting the barrel to the ball. At 1B, he attacked ground balls aggressively, but under control, and worked to pick his hops. He had a clean exchange into the throwing hand and worked with momentum to throw across the diamond. All in all - Thomas has a solid frame for the position and moves his body exceptionally well, 4.5/4.6 shuttle and low 7's sixty.

09/25/2016 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Thomas is a big, athletic 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.09. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying tremendous hitting abilities with pro level power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (95 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has outstanding strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball with pop to all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball coming off the bat differently. At 1B, he shows smooth / clean actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He moves well laterally displaying range to both sides. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Athletic abilities are shown on his feeds of the double play as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Thomas has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his offensive abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
