01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Thomas continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon of arm (89 mph velocity) with impressive pop times of 1.95. Offensively, he continues to shine through an open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel accuracy (90 mph exit velocity) through a line drive approach with gap to gap pop.

11/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bossier City (Shreveport), LA Thomas is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (88 mph) with impressive pop times of 2.02. Offensively, he continues to shine with well above average hitting / power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (91 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. With 2 years to further develop, Thomas has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

11/24/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Shreveport, LA Thomas is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Thomas shows quick footwork and gains ground when blocking. He presents a good target to the pitcher and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Sitting in a more athletic stance can help Thomas improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and takes a level swing, producing solid line drives. Thomas can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. Overall, Thomas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/25/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Shreveport, LA Thomas showed offensive and defensive improvements during his last workout in Shreveport. Hitting grades improved to 40's. He stands in with a loose grip, tracks well to the ball, and swings on plane. He makes consistent contact, uses some lower body, and hustles down the line. Behind the plate, Thomas lowered pop times to 2.25 seconds. He has efficient footwork, presentable hands, and he sits in low. He has a soft glove, a clean exchange, and throws with a loose arm action to 2nd base.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Thomas is a coachable C/OF prospect who has a talented skill set. Behind the plate, Thomas has an effective setup and plays the position athletically. He presents a good target and stays square to the pitcher. Thomas moves with active footwork and good body control. He does a nice job blocking the baseball. Thomas has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release showing consistently strong throws down to 2B. As a left-handed hitter, Thomas has a tall, open setup with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short, square stride. Thomas has good hands with a long swing path. He has good rotation in his swing and is developing bat speed. Thomas is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. Overall, Thomas has a solid approach on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Thomas is a hardworking C/OF prospect who has upside in his game. As a left-handed hitter, Thomas has an athletic, crouched stance. He has a patient approach and knows the strike zone well. Thomas has a square, on-time stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. He has an on-plane swing path producing consistent contact. He is a line drive type hitter who can spray the ball to all fields. Thomas can also drive the ball to each gap with power. Behind the plate, Thomas moves with effective footwork and stays square to the pitcher. He tracks the ball well with his eyes and receives it with a firm glove. Thomas gets rid of the ball quickly throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has good momentum through his release showing online throws down to 2B. Overall, Thomas is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to take his game to the next level.

11/26/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Shreveport, LA Thomas is a (2022 grad) as a C. Defensively behind the plate, he moves with quiet feet and tries to catch around the ball. He has a clean exchange and makes strong throws down to 2B. With the stick, this LHH shows an athletic setup and gets back into a good load. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
