10/06/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Thomas is a C/3B prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Thomas shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Recovering to his feet quicker after blocking can help Thomas improve as a C. At 3B, Thomas gets into an athletic position and fields with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Thomas can improve as a 3B by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes his stride on time. He gets back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with good extension, leading to solid line drives. Working a smoother rhythm into his load can help Thomas improve as a hitter. Overall, Thomas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
