05/15/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Thomas continues to shine in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a firm mitt, sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.33 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Tommy did a little bit of everything in Mesa at the Pre-Season All-American catching, playing third base and jumping on the bump. We do see Tommy as a catcher at the next level. His exchange from glove to hand is impeccable and his throws are consistently online. At the plate, he is aggressive as he swings with intent and, on occasion, can do some damage. He has made impressive gains over the years and has gotten himself in a position to play at the next level.

12/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Thomas is a C out of California in the class of 2022. Defensively, he displayed efficient foot work on his throw down by working in line to his target. His hands were soft while receiving by funneling ball to mitt and swaying to position pitch. While blocking, he showed decent lateral movement and lead with the glove to keep ball in front. Offensively, he uses an open stance with smooth timing to create separation in his swing to try and get the barrel on plane consistently to make consistent contact to all fields. Thomas is a coachable, high energy prospect who works hard on his game.

10/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Best of The West - Upperclass Thomas continues to show shine with his abilities at the Best of the West tournament. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt, tracks ball well and sticks pitches in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Offensively, he shows an athletic setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel through a short / compact swing. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/29/2021 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Thomas continued to showcase his high baseball IQ at the Arizona Senior Fall Classic. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt, tracks the ball well and sticks pitches in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have shown in the 2.15 range with accuracy / carry to his target. Thomas threw out 3 of the 4 runners that went on him. Offensively, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel through a line drive approach. He went deep in counts throughout the weekend and got on base 6 of his 11 plate appearances. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

08/09/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Tommy showed comfort behind the dish flashing his best pop time to date hitting 2.15 and was consistently on the bag with his throws. In addition, his blocking and receiving were solid. At the plate, he uses the whole field because he hits the ball where it's pitched. With one year to further develop his skills, he is getting himself into a position to play college baseball in 2023.

07/28/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 17U Tommy was our only catcher for our Red Baseball Factory 17U Southwest Championships team. He handled the pitching staff efficiently and brought high energy to his teammates. His team enjoyed having him be the anchor. Tommy went 2 for 6 with a walk at the plate. If Tommy can continue to gain velocity on his arm as he enters his senior year, he will make a college program happy in the spring of 2023.

04/11/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Thomas is 2022 C/2B. Medium frame stocky build with strength present and room to add more muscle. Primary C, efficient feet with good direction to second base. Quiet movements who presents a low target while working thumb under and holding balls in zone. Clean transfer and quick release with accurate throws to second base. Recorded an arm velocity of 75mph and a pop time of 2.19. Creates good blocking angles with a soft chest. Tracks pitches well and tucks chin. Secondary 2B, who works to center ball and a square fielding position. Creates good angles with ability to throw from multiple arm angles. Accurate/online throws to first base with good touch on his DP feeds. Right-handed hitter hits from a tall and athletic stance. Simple load with quiet head/eyes allows him track pitches well. Good direction with loose hands as he extends out front driving line drives into both gaps. Recorded a bat exit velocity of 71mph. 2 years of continued growth and development will bode well for his opportunities to play at the next level.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Thomas is a coachable C/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Recruiting Classic. Behind the plate, Thomas receives with a firm glove and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and generates good long hops to the 2B bag. He creates good angles when blocking and keeps the ball in front of him. Long tossing can help Thomas build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and uses the entire field well. Thomas can create more consistent contact by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Thomas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

09/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Thomas is a compact C/2B who will graduate in 2022. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in the 2.20 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 more high school seasons in front of him and his strong work-ethic, Thomas has potential to progress in this game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
