01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Thomas is a hardworking OF/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Thomas has a closed stance with a centered balance. He has a load with a closed stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Thomas has an on-plane swing path and gets good separation obtaining extension at contact. He consistently lands the barrel to the baseball. Thomas is a contact type hitter who has a middle of the field approach. In the field, Thomas works hard and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball in a high position and presents his hands late. He has a long exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. On the mound, Thomas pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with high effort. He has a hard, closed landing to home plate. Thomas features a fastball and 10-4 o'clock breaking curveball. Overall, Thomas has a balanced game and potential to get better with development.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
