Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Timothy showed on the mound and in the OF for the first time at the event. He continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. At the plate, he displays well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

05/21/2017 - College PREP - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Timothy is a lean, athletic LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and throws from a low 3/4 arm slot. Fastball showed a range of 75-79 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Timothy has an upside on the mound and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
