10/27/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South TJ fits an interesting prospect profile - a left-handed hitting SS with an athletic 6'3" frame. Those kind of players don't appear on the field everyday - and when you add some exciting tools in the mix you can see why TJ is on scouts' radar. At the plate he has a compact swing with quick rotation and the ability to impact the ball with authority. He squared up quite a few balls in batting practice and then went 2-3 with a BB, a 2B and 2 SB in game play. TJ ran a 6.70 and plays the game fast and aggressively. He's a fluid defender with sure hands and a quick first step. His arm plays well across the diamond thanks to a quick exchange and release. Overall, this is a player that will be exciting to watch as he continues to mature.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
