08/04/2024 - National Showcase - Greensboro, NC Tobias is a tall, solid OF who is a prospect on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in tracking down balls. Throws are accurate with online carry (89 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Tobias has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
