12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) TJ is a well-built, athletic RHP/SS prospect who has a well-rounded skill set. On the mound, TJ shows a good presence and pitches with an aggressive approach. He has a small starter step and gathers himself well. TJ has fluid separation and shows a clean arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a full finish with the proper stride length staying in line with home plate. TJ does a nice job finishing with his chest over his front knee. He commands his fastball with run movement. He also locates a deceptive changeup and shows a medium breaking curveball. Offensively, TJ has an athletic setup with a firm front side. He shows comfortable hands with a late, centered stride. TJ has strength behind his barrel and is developing bat speed. He has good coordination rotating his core with his swing. TJ has the ability to drive the ball to the pull side. In the field, TJ shows an athletic ready position. He has agile actions and covers good ground. TJ fields the ball in a high position with deep hands. He starts and stops on his release throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. TJ shows strong throws with good accuracy. Overall, TJ is a versatile prospect who has potential to advance his game to the next level.

08/05/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Lodi (Sacramento), CA TJ is a hardworking RHP/SS prospect who has a versatile skill set. On the mound, TJ keeps his eyes on his target and has balanced mechanics. He has on-time separation and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. TJ has a clean arm action and engages his hips throughout his motion. TJ lands square to home plate and can benefit from a longer stride. He does a nice job rotating with core as he finishes towards his target. TJ commands his fastball at 76-80 MPH. He also locates a deceptive changeup and medium breaking curveball. In the field, TJ plays with quick footwork and takes effective angles to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. TJ does a nice job funneling the baseball. He has a loose arm action and throws from a low 3/4 arm slot. TJ plays through the baseball with good momentum towards his target. His throws have good carry across the diamond. Offensively, TJ has an athletic setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride as his lower half leads his swing. TJ has an aggressive approach and long swing path. He engages his hips and produces square contact. TJ is a contact type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Overall, TJ is a talented prospect who has the right approach on both sides of the ball.

03/26/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Kentfield (San Francisco), CA Toby is a strong, athletic built RHP/SS prospect who has good upside and graduates in 2020. On the mound, Toby has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He does a nice job engaging his hips throughout his motion and lands on the ball of his foot. Toby locates his fastball with late arm side run movement. He also features a medium breaking curveball and developing changeup. In the field, Toby plays with effective footwork and controlled body movements giving him the ability to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields it squarely with a firm glove. He has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball producing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Toby has a tall stance and takes a good load while maintains direction with his stride. He has a long swing path and pushes the barrel through the zone. Toby does have the ability to hit to the opposite field. Overall, Toby has a well-rounded skill set and the potential to get even better.

09/04/2016 - National Tryout Plus - San Francisco, CA TJ is a strong, lean RHP/SS prospect who is currently more advanced on the mound. He shows impressive command, being able to spot up his pitches to both sides of the plate and work ahead of hitters. At short, he is a smooth fielder with a low fielding position and his hands out front to field. He makes good DP turns with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws both on DP's and to first. At the dish, this RHH loads on time and has a short stride to transfer his weight. He has good tracking ability, an idea of the strike zone and a patient approach to put together good at bats. Shortening his swing will lead to more consistent contact and base hits. On the mound, this prospect has a compact motion and shows his athleticism in his finish, getting to a good fielding position. He has a three pitch mix with a fastball, curveball and changeup from a 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action. TJ is a prospect we look forward to keeping an eye on in the future.

12/06/2015 - National Tryout - Sacramento, CA TJ continues to work hard on his skills. At SS, he has active pre-pitch footwork and hustles into a square fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt, secures it and has a clean exchange to throw, firing accurately across the diamond. He moves well right and left and isn't afraid to get dirty. With the bat, TJ shows a balanced approach with patience, waiting for his pitch. Quick hands whip the barrel through a level path as he works to drive the middle of the field. Utilizing more of his lower 1/2 (avoid lunging) will help to increase pop off of the bat. On the mound, TJ fills up the zone with strikes. He has repeatable mechanics and stays directional toward the dish. FB show slight tail as he works it to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with late break. Finishing out in front with more extension on his follow through will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. Only a 2020 grad - this young player still has a lot of time to develop on the diamond as he well to physically mature.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) TJ is a 2-way player (RHP/SS) who has an athletic frame. On the mound, this righty throws a FB & CB from an over the top arm slot. He maintains fluid rhythm, gets good glove side lead with strong glove tuck, staying directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 64-66 mph while showing slight sink. Working to be more consistent with his release point will help to improve his command/control. Breaking ball shows a 12/6 shape as he throws it for strikes. Working to finish with more extension on his follow through will help to improve abilities on the bump. At SS, TJ shows active prep footwork as he hustles into a square fielding position. He fields the ball cleanly, has soft/sure hands and has a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, this RHH has fluid rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack at pitches he likes, barreling the ball up consistently. Only a 2020 grad - TJ is a coachable player who has a ton of time to develop his skills on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
