06/05/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Tommy continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Defensively at SS, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Exchange is clean with strong throws. Backhand is smooth with a quick release with zip across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed range of 84-85 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and works to get ahead, utilizing both sides of the plate. Tommy has big upside and will get looks from pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Tommy is a very talented 2-way prospect (2B/RHP) who is fun to watch. With the bat, this righty displays an athletic setup with fluid rhythm to load. Quick hands whip the barrel through the zone with speed as he looks to jump on 1st pitch FB's. The ball jumps off of his bat as he sprays it to all parts of the field with pop. Defensively, he has quick/active footwork and works through the GB smoothly. Hands are soft with a quick release and a cannon for an arm. On the mound, Tommy throws a FB & CB from a 3/4 arm slot and loose/free arm action. He repeats well and pounds the zone with strikes. FB shows some arm side run while topping out at 88 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with good action and tight spin. He works quickly and attacks hitters, making them swing the bat. Tommy has the tools that will make things happen in a variety of ways on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
