12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Tommy continues to shine in his baseball abilities at the Academic All-American showcase. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 2B. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 75-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows good mound presence and competes on the bump.

03/14/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Manalapan, NJ Tommy is a 2024 1B/LHP. Medium frame athletic build with plenty of room to grow. Primary first baseman starts with a good pre-pitch routine with efficient footwork to ball. Centers ball well with a low funnel. Quick exchange into a 3/4 arm slot with accurate and online throws. Showed good bag awareness all day. Secondary left-handed pitcher who works quick and gets out in front and drives down with clean mechanics. Commands three pitches and challenges hitters. FB has slight movement through the zone. Best pitch was his 2/8 shaped curveball with tight spin and good tilt. Mixed in a developing slider and a developing changeup. Left-handed hitter, hits from an upright and open stance. Good setup with a square stride and tries to separate his hands as he glides into contact. When he gets extended, shows a line drive approach to the pull side. Upper body dominant stroke that will improve when he incorporates his lower half. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

08/11/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Trenton, NJ Tommy continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, delivery is sound, repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose through the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 66 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Split finger shows slight sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength.

10/06/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ Tommy worked out at 1st base and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Tommy has active feet, he covers ground, and fields squarely. He has athletic actions, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency and momentum from a short arm action to his target. On the mound, this LHP has a clean arm circle and on-time separation. He keeps his eyes on target, lands with good direction toward the plate, and he throws strikes. Offensively, Tommy has a tall/athletic stance, he tracks the ball well, and makes solid contact. He finishes through the ball and can spray to all fields.

08/09/2019 - Baseball Factory Advanced Analytics & Pro Training Experience (Ages 12-14) Tommy is a coachable 1B/LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Analytics Training Weekend. Tommy showed decent speed during testing and continued to get better after instruction. He also improved shuttle times and broad jumps after getting better hip transitions. Continuing to loosen his hips can help Tommy improve athletically. At the plate, this LHH barrels up the ball well and shows raw exit velo of 68mph. Making better contact with the ball can help Tommy increase his exit velocity. In the field, Tommy fields the ball out in front and makes the routine plays. Taking a better first step can help Tommy improve defensively. With five more years to develop, Tommy has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

03/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Manalapan, NJ Tommy is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Tommy has efficient footwork, he covers ground well, and makes the routine plays. He presents well, fields in a square position, and throws with accuracy from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Tommy is a strike thrower with a good arm action and off speed that shows promise. At the plate, Tommy has a tall set-up, a short stride, and a short/direct barrel. He makes square contact, swings in good rhythm, and uses some lower body. Overall skills can further improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
