Official Scouting Report

  • 1BPosition Projection

12/19/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Thousand Oaks, CA Tommy is a 1B prospect who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame stout build, with thick lower half, and strength present. At 1B, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine, with quick feet, and ability to scoop balls at first base. He creates good fielding angles as he fields from an athletic fielding position with soft hands out front. A long arm action into a high 3/4 release point, with accurate/on-line throws to second base, and an arm velocity up to 88mph. Showed good footwork around the bag. At the plate, he hits from an upright and square stance. A short glide step, with a controlled load, and intent in swing. Gets his backside through the baseball and showed an explosive barrel through the hitting zone. Showed a short barrel path as he hit balls hard to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 93mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Tommy having opportunities to play at the next level.

11/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Tommy showed improvements all over the diamond during his last workout in San Bernardino, CA. Hitting spiked to 60 and 62 respectively, exit velocity increased to 98 MPH, and raw arm strength to 88 MPH. Tommy has an athletic frame, he stands in the box squarely, and swings aggressively. He loads smoothly, has good balance, and swings with explosive bat speed. Tommy makes hard/level contact and he uses his lower body well. At 1B, Tommy has good bag awareness, moves with agility to the ball, and his feet are active. He stays low on the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with carry to his target. At 3rd base, Tommy has athletic actions, he makes plays, and he moves well through the ball. He throws with a high 3/4 arm slot with carry across the diamond. Tommy has a very bright future in this game and we look forward to seeing what's in store.

08/22/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Thousand Oaks, CA Tommy is a 1B prospect who will graduate in the class of 2024. Tall frame, with broad shoulders, and strength present. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Did a good job letting the barrel work out front and getting extension throughout his swing. Natural strength in swing and some looseness to his hands. Ability to backspin balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity as high as 94mph during BP. At 1B, he showed good rhythm to his actions and fluid footwork. Does a good job reading the ball off the bat and centering the baseball. Fielded the ball from an athletic/square fielding position with soft hands and a clean transfer. Accurate/on-line throws, with a quick release, and arm velocity up to 85mph to second base. He is a big target at first base. Tommy is a physical prospect that will have the chance to play at the next level with continued development.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Tommy continues to shine with his baseball abilities. At the plate, hands are quick (93 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. At the event, he had 3 hits including a 2B. Defensively, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Feet are active as he plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. Tommy has a bright future ahead of himself.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Tommy is a tall 1B prospect who showcased his skills during the Opening Day Classic. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a soft stride. He gets into a small load and hits against a strong front side, producing loud contact and power. At 1B, Tommy fields with soft hands and makes strong/accurate throws to his target. Overall, Tommy is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Tommy is a projectable 2024 2-way player (1B/RHP) who shines in a variety of ways on the diamond. At first, he showed off his arm with a 77 mph arm velocity. Not only did he impress at first, but he also showed his pop off a little with a 86mph exit velocity. His athletic set up, explosive lower half, and fast bat speed would help him make hard contact during his BP. Tommy stepped on the mound and showed off a great fastball, topping at 75mph. His breaking ball also showed well with good depth on his CB. Overall, Tommy is a solid 2-way prospect that projects as a 1B but can get it done on the mound. We are excited to see where this game takes him in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
