Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Tony is a tall, solid 1B/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate he displays outstanding hitting with excellent power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, (87 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed to and through a short/direct/level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with a 2B. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. On the mound, arm action is loose, free, and quick. Fastball shows a range of 83-87 mph on a downhill plane with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as outstanding pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is outstanding as he works fast, attacking hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Tony has a ton potential and is a sure player to follow, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
