03/10/2024 - National Showcase - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC TJ continues to shine with improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, he shows a quick tempo and keeps his eyes on target through a strong balance point. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 67 mph. Fastball showed a range of 65-67 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving stock on the mound. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) TJ is a LHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2025. At 1B, he starts in a relaxed ready position, with efficient feet, and gets good reads off the bat. TJ plays the game with good energy. He tries to field the ball out front and has confident glove actions. His exchange is clean and he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Accurate throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 66mph. TJ needs to work on fielding through the baseball. At the plate, he hits from an upright and even stance with comfortable hands. Starts with a simple load, with fluid rhythm, and is centered at contact point. A compact swing enables him to spray balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 62mph during BP. On the mound, he showed ability to work ahead in the count and hold runners. 3 pitch mix with a FB that topped out at 61mph, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with tight spin, and a developing changeup. In 1 inning of live game action, he struck out 2 hitters and induced soft contact. With four more years of growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

07/05/2021 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) TJ continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 58-60 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/25/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (MS) TJ is a LHP/1B prospect who showcased his skills during the All-State Tournament. On the mound, TJ works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate. He operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 59mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 53-54mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 55-56mph. In the field, TJ shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he creates momentum on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and gets good extension through the ball, producing strong contact to his pull side. With four more years to develop, TJ has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Richmond, VA TJ is a hard working R/L who plays 1B. Defensively, he has active prep and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He tracks the GB into his mitt and funnels well. Presenting his glove and fielding the ball more out in front will aid in his defensive development. With the bat, this RHH steps into the box with a purpose, looking to swing it. He remains balanced and has rhythm to load. Swing is quick as he works to engage his lower 1/2, squaring the ball up and hitting line-drives. Creating more extension through contact along with overall increased strength will aid in his defensive development. TJ is a young (2025 grad) 1B who still has a ton of time to progress and physically mature (get stronger).

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) TJ showed improvements in his all around game during his time in Pirate City. He gains momentum, shows a clean exchange, and delivers the ball with accuracy. On the mound, TJ has a loose/free arm circle, good balance, and solid direction toward the plate. He finishes in a complete position and throws strikes. Offensively, TJ improved hitting and power grades to 28 and 22. He stands in the box comfortably, he swings in good rhythm, and has a direct swing path. He makes consistent contact, and can spray the ball to all fields.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting, Pitching & Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Trace is a coachable LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Trace gathers over the rubber and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 53mph. Breaking ball sits from 46-47mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 50-52mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Separating his hands earlier in his motion can help Trace improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and gets into his load well. He drives through with his lower half and produces solid line drives. Trace can improve as a hitter by getting into his load sooner. With six more years to develop, Trace has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) TJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 53 mph. Fastball showed a range of 50-53 mph Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
