01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Trace is an athletic 2B prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the field, Trace gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and throws from a high 3/4 angle, keeping his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and solid raw power. Overall, Trace is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

07/12/2019 - College PREP - San Marcos (San Diego), CA Trace is a thin and athletic 2020 2B prospect. At 2B, Trace is on time with his prep step, he fields the ball in a proper fielding position, and presents a low/early glove. He has good actions to the ball and has good rhythm in his footwork. He has a clean exchange on double plays and makes the routine play. At the plate, Trace starts in a squared stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has fast hands to the ball. He gets to balance in his stride and gets the backside through when attacking the ball. Trace can back spin the ball and is a gap to gap hitter. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/25/2015 - Interactive Video Program - San Diego, CA Trace is an athletic 2-way player as a 2B/OF. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced approach with a solid base. Swing it short through a level path as he connects and tries to utilize his lower 1/2. He has pop off of his barrel and uses the whole field. In the MIF, Ramos hustles to everything hit his way and isn't afraid to lay out. He fields the ball out in front and has a clean exchange to throw. In the OF, Trace takes a quick first step with solid routes/angles to the fly-ball. He secures the ball and gain ground toward his target. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Rhythm to load
2. Bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive
Infield
1. Play through ball
2. Loosen up actions
Outfield
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Avoid drifting

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
