Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

07/28/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Traven is a coachable 2B/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Traven gets into position on time and fields the ball out in front of his body. He gains ground well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Traven improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and rotates his core well through the zone, producing consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Traven can improve as a hitter by getting his stride foot down sooner. Overall, Traven is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Traven is a solid, strong, 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2020. Defensively, Traven has efficient footwork, he fields athletically, and he presents his glove well. He plays through the ball, gains momentum, and throws with accuracy from a short arm action to his target. Quicker feet and added range will help defensive numbers improve. At the plate, Traven is a strong hitter with an athletic stance, a controlled stride, and explosive bat speed. He has good hand-eye coordination, he hits hard to the pull side, and he uses his lower body well. Letting the ball travel deeper and more hand load will improve solid hitting numbers. Traven is a hard working player with great hustle.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
