Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • 1B/OFPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Travis is a well-built 1B/OF who has a versatile skill set. As a left-handed hitter, Travis has a tall setup. He has a simple, small load with a closed stride. Travis shows fast bat speed with an up and down swing path. He lands the barrel to the baseball producing hard contact. In the field, Travis shows an athletic ready position with a quick first step. He moves with smooth footwork and shows range to the glove side. He fields the ball in a high position with deep hands. Travis has a choppy exchange leading into a stiff arm action. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot producing accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Travis is a projectable prospect who has a balanced game on both sides of the ball.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Travis continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an open setup. Hands are quick and he has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/14/2018 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Travis showed solid offensive skill in Trenton but was not able to work out defensively due to weather. At the plate, Travis is a strong hitter with an open stance, good balance, and a rhythmic swing. He has explosive bat speed, a short swing path, and he works the ball gap to gap with power in his stick. More lower body will help very good offensive numbers get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
