Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

07/28/2014 - National Tryout - Gaffney, SC Trent continues to shine on the diamond. Defensively at 3B, he shows quick/active footwork working into an athletic fielding position. Ball is quick from glove to hand as he fires it across the diamond. With the bat, Trent shows good zone awareness with patience. Barrel delivery is quick with whip as he has quick hands. On the bump, he has 3 effective pitches as he attacks downhill, pounding the zone. He fills up the zone and throws strikes. FB cracks the mitt at 85 mph as it jumps out of his hand. An exciting prospect - Trent is one to keep an eye on.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Trent is a skilled 2-way player both on the mound as well as at 3B. On the bump, he works to a tall balance point and gets good glove side lead. FB pounds the zone 82 mph with life out of his hand. He can work the corners as he has plus command. At the hot corner, this athlete is aggressive in his approach as he works from the ground-up. A quick release and in-line shoulders result in accurate throws across the diamond. As a hitter, Alley shows an balanced/athletic setup with a solid base. He delivers the barrel to and through the zone on a level path, driving it on a line. He hits the ball where it's pitched and drives it to all parts of the field. More power potential is there with more lower 1/2 drive. A talented 2-way player who has a high ceiling at both positions.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
