Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Trent is a hardworking OF/RHP prospect who plays the game athletically. In the field, Trent has an athletic ready position and moves with effective angles. He fields the ball in a high position out in front of his body. Trent has a clean exchange leading into a good arm action. He plays with momentum through the baseball and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Trent shows accurate throws with good strength. Offensively, Trent has a square setup with comfortable hands. He has on-time rhythm with an activated load and soft, square stride. Trent has an on-plane swing path consistently landing the barrel to the baseball producing hard contact. He does a nice job engaging his core as he rotates. Trent has a line drive approach and knows what he is doing at the plate. On the mound, Trent shows a confident setup with composed emotions. He has simple mechanics and works from the stretch. He has on-time separation leading into a loose arm action. He has good acceleration and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Trent has the proper stride length and stays in line with home plate. He features a fastball at 76-81 MPH and a slider as a secondary pitch. Overall, Trent is a versatile prospect who has a bright future on the diamond.

07/29/2018 - College PREP - Norfolk, VA Trent is a tall, lean OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth clean actions. He utilizes his / feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He throws a slider with tight spin but resembles breaking ball. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 2 years to further develop, Trent has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
