03/26/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Harmony (Pittsburgh), PA Trent continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws display accuracy and carry across the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive swing path.

10/19/2016 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Trent continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.16. In the MIF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he plays through a low approach. Glove action is soft / clean and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally, covering a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, hitting grades are now well above average with solid average power potential. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows good rhythm and a solid approach at the plate. Hands stay inside the baseball utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Trent has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

09/25/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Trent is an athletic 2 way player who showed his skills at both SS and in the outfield. At SS, he showed a great pre pitch setup, very active feet which worked around/through the ball and a quick/clean exchange to throw. In the outfield, he again showed very active feet, being aggressive to go and get the ball while staying under control and taking efficient angles. His arm also showed very well at both positions (84 mph raw velocity). Offensively, he showed good rhythm, a balanced setup and hands that worked inside the baseball, allowing him to hit effectively to all fields. Trent shows tremendous promise in this game and will be sought out to play at the next level with continued hard work.

04/03/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Pittsburgh, PA Trent has worked hard and molded himself into a solid prospect. In the MIF, he shows active prep footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet. He works around, funnels smoothly and has a clean transfer to throw. Offensively, Trent shows an athletic/balanced setup with rhythm to load. He whips the barrel through the zone with speed and squares the ball up - hitting line-drives. A 2018 grad - Trent will find success on the diamond thanks to his well rounded skill-set.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Trent is a hardworking, coachable 2B who is willing to make adjustments to be the best player he can be. In the MIF, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He makes the routine plays and shows sound fundamentals as he presents glove well out front. Athletic abilities are shown off on slow roller play. At the plate, he tracks balls well and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Power potential shows best to the pull side will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 5 for 9. A 2018 graduate, Trent has abilities with time and room to improve.

07/11/2015 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Trent is a nice young man that is eager at all times and brings the same energy and enthusiasm day in and day out. He was always coming to the field ready to get better and had the aptitude to but practice into game play. Offensively, he showed a good athletic setup and was quiet with his actions to hit. He got to his hitting position on-time and was direct with the barrel to hit. His path was compact, level, quick and accurate for hard contact. Getting extended through the baseball out in front, not spinning, will improve hard contact. In the OF, he worked during drills on getting his hips lower to field ground balls and staying low to help his arm play. He took good first steps to initiate his angles and was able to get to spots and secure fly balls with a soft glove. In all - Trent should focus on getting stronger and quicker, while also improving his live reads off the bat in BP and simulated games.

03/29/2015 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Trent is a R/R 2-way player as an OF/SS. In the OF, he shows active prep footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. He takes good angles, works into position behind the fly-ball and secures the catch with 2-hands. At SS, Trent shows good pre-pitch actions and comes to get the GB. He works into a square fielding position, has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to 1B. Getting on a long toss program will help increase his arm strength which will aid in his development both in the OF as well as in the INF. Only a 2018 grad - Trent still has a ton of time to develop his skill-set.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
