12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Trent is an athletic and talented 2023 Catching prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, Trent starts in a balanced primary stance and has an athletic/staggered secondary stance. He presents a low target and works under the ball. He leads with his glove and controls the ball with his chest when blocking. Improving hip mobility will improve his ability to move laterally when blocking. Trent has a clean exchange and creates momentum with his lower half when throwing. He needs to continue to shorten up his arm slot and have a quicker release. At the plate, Trent starts in a squared stance, he has loose hands, and stays in his legs through contact. He has fast hands and keeps the barrel on plane with the ball. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position and be aggressive on fastballs. Trent will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/30/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Trent is an athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Trent has quick feet, agile movements, and presentable hands. He sticks the ball well, keeps it in front when blocking, and throws with a short arm action with momentum toward his target. In the OF, Trent reads the ball off the bat well, his footwork is efficient, and he makes plays. He has an accurate arm to his cut off man, throwing from a loose arm action. At the plate, Trent has an open stance, a square stride, and he makes hard contact. He has fast bat speed, a line drive approach, and he uses his lower body. Trent can further improve skills with work on the following.

1. Set-up
2. Fielding position
3. Blocking
1. Avoid drifting
2. Exchange
3. Long toss
1. Lower body
2. Keep head still
3. Level swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
