04/03/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Pittsburgh, PA Trent continue to impress on the mound. This tall/projectable righty pounds the zone with all 3-pitches and will compete at a high level. FB jumps out of his hand with life still topping out at 89 mph. Changeup really will challenge hitters to stay back as he creates deception throwing it with the same arm speed as his FB. He drives off of the rubber and works downhill - utilizing his tall frame. This RHP is one who will give hitters a tough time at a very high level.

06/10/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida Trent showed some of his best numbers to date in his most recent Factory outing. He topped out at 89 MPH - up 5 MPH since his last outing less than a year ago. He located his FB and changed speeds well with his 11/5 SL and CH with sink. Mechanically, he showed well with clean arm action and a repeatable delivery. He worked downhill with a simple/solid tempo. Overall - Vietmeier has an extremely high ceiling and is an elite hurler in his class.

09/21/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series East - Jupiter, FL Vietmeier has present strength on a 6-foot-2 180 pound frame. He topped at 84 with his fastball, and pitched between 81 and 84 with arm side run. His breaking ball was thrown in the low 70's with three quarters action across and down in the zone, while his change was thrown 70-73 with fade action down and to the arm side. He featured good mound presence, and threw his three pitch mix in the strike zone against older players. He gathered his core well to his balance point, and broke his hands on time to allow his arm to work from the glove. He tended to stay closed with his front side, especially his landing foot - which didn't allow him to fully finish, caused him to stay more upright and to spin off to 1B side. With work to improve this, he stands to see a jump in his stuff since he already has strength and quickness in his arm to work with.

06/27/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Pittsburgh, PA Trent is a tall, solid, 2-way player with good skills. On the mound, Trent has a long / free arm action, a controlled balance point, and on-time separation. He has level shoulder, good direction toward home, and he competes in the zone. In the INF, Trent has firm hands, playable feet, and he takes good angles to the ball. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency to his target. At the plate, Trent has a square / athletic set-up, good balance, and average bat speed. He is a strong hitter who gets his lower 1/2 through. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Finish
2. Long toss
Defense
1. Field further out in front
2. Play on balls of feet
Offense
1. Rhythm / Timing
2. Level off swing
3. Let ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
