03/13/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Trent continues to work hard on his skills. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left working into position behind the fly-ball. He secures the ball with soft/sure hands, gathers well and fires accurate throws into his target. He showed behind the dish for the first time sitting in well and presenting a low target. He works hard laterally around pitches in the dirt and centers them off of his chest. Exchange is clean with accurate throws to 2B - pop times of 2.38. Times will continue to drop as he works to strengthen his arm (long toss) and stays low to throw. Offensively, this righty waits for a pitch his likes. He barrels the ball up and looks to drive the middle of the field. Loosening his grip will allow for more bat whip and more lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power. Only a 2019 grad - Trent still has a ton of time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

08/13/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the Under Armour All-America Game Trent continues to work hard to improve his game. Defensively, Trent is an active, athletic fielder with plus range. His arm shows life to the cutoff man. Continuing to develop his routes & angles to get into position behind the fly-ball will help to improve his skills in the OF. On the mound, Trent keeps hitters off balance with his 2-pitch mix and upbeat tempo. He throws from the Hi 3/4-arm slot with a FB that shows late life into the mitt. As he develops arm strength and a feel for his secondary pitch, he will become a serious threat on the bump. At the plate, he hits with a square stance and level swing path. This level swing path allows him to square up a ton of balls in the strike zone and spray to all fields. Trent is a student of the game and will see his skills improve as he still has a lot of time to develop.

04/12/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Trent is a (5'4"/135) 2-way player as a SS/OF. With the bat, this athletic RHH shows a square setup with good balance. He takes an aggressive hack on a level path to and through the zone. He engages his lower 1/2 and drives the ball with pop to all fields. At SS, Trent shows active prep footwork as he moves well into a square fielding position behind the GB. He funnels to a clean exchange and works in-line toward his target. In the OF, Trent takes a quick first step with solid routes/angles to track down the fly-ball. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers well and fires accurate throws into his target. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Contact points
2. Extension through contact
Infield
1. Pick out the correct hops
2. Approach to ground ball
3. Play through ball
Outfield
1. Crow-hop
2. Arm strength (long toss)

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
