04/28/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Trentin is a stud catcher with an athletic build that graduates in 2022. Over the past year Trentin has made considerable strides in all aspects of his game. He has improved his raw velo from 71-85 MPH, now runs a sub 7.0 second 60 yd dash, and improved his exit velo from 71-89 MPH. Behind the plate he sets up in an athletic stance with quick and agile feet. Trentin shows soft hands receiving and has quick clean exchanges delivering a seed online to 2B at a 2.11 pop time. He blocks well getting to his knees quickly setting a good chest angle, this also allows for a quick block and recover to keep runners at bay. In the outfield, Trentin has quick feet and agile range to cover the gaps. He has a quick release and delivers the ball online to any bag. Trentin swings with intent to do damage, he can drive the ball to all fields. He shows good rhythm and gets on plane with the pitch and has tremendous barrel accuracy. As a 2022 grad, the large improvements already make Trentin an exciting watch for the next three years with the ability to develop as a high-level catcher or outfielder that can swing it.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Trentin is a tall, athletic C/SS who possesses a great work ethic and is a very coachable kid who graduates in 2022. He shined at the plate, where he starts from an open stance and then leads into a long stride forward to create separation. He showed good rhythm with fluid actions and fired his hands quickly through the zone causing the ball to jump off the bat. He explodes his lower half through the zone which helped him display gap to gap power at times. Defensively, Trentin showed versatility being able to play multiple positions. Behind the plate, he blocked balls well keeping them in front and showed a quick, fluid exchange on his throws. In the infield, he displayed active feet coming to get the baseball and fielded out in front of his body. He got rid of the ball efficiently and delivered accurate throws to first base. Continuing to work on his agility and adding strength will help Trentin develop into a solid prospect to watch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
