12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Trenton continues to improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball shows a range of 77-80 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he as a perfect 4 for 4. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

10/15/2017 - College PREP - Georgetown, KY Trenton is a long, lean 2019 LHP prospect with a good pitcher's body. He shows the makings of a go-to out pitch in his sharp, late breaking curveball that can get swings and misses in any count. His funky, deceptive delivery from a low arm slot allows him to hide the ball from hitters and makes his stuff play up He has a loose, clean arm stroke with repeatable mechanics that allow him to get to a consistent release point and show control of his pitches. Getting his arm and lower half in sync will open up more velocity in each of his offerings. At the plate, he shows contact ability with good hand-eye coordination to get the bat to the ball. He uses his lower half well to generate bat speed and pop to the pull side. Trenton is an intriguing prospect with lots of potential on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
