07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Trenton shows a prospect on the diamond as he continues to improve his baseball abilities. Foot speed has really improved, now a well above average runner as indicated by his 60 time of 7.25. On the mound, he shows a long, loose, and live arm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 69 mph. Fastball shows a range of 67-69 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and early break. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with plays with a lot of energy.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Trenton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 58-60 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He slows his body and arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
