Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Trevor showed as a LHP and at 1B for the first time at the event. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 2 with a BB. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-72 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Trevor continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. He showed on the mound and in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through a closed, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel, creating backspin with gap-to-gap pop. At the event he was 2 for 4 with a 2B. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Trevor is a versatile LHP/C prospect who has a projectable build. On the mound, Trevor has on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a stiff arm action and cuts off his release. Trevor engages his hips and has a controlled landing. He lands closed to home plate and finishes with an upright chest. Trevor locates his fastball with run movement. He also locates his knuckle and is developing his changeup. Offensively, Trevor has a tall setup with his weight in the front side. He has a load with an on-time stride as his lower half leads his swing. Trevor has an on-plane swing path and shows hard contact up the middle. He has the ability to drive the ball to the pull side with power. Behind the plate, Trevor has a good glove awareness and moves well laterally. He provides a high target and receives the ball with a deep glove. Trevor throws from a low 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate with online strength. Overall, Trevor is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
