Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

09/06/2009 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN This is the third time we've seen Trevor in the past 10 months. His curveball and change were average. Split finger showed best. Velocity was similar to the change, but he got solid break on it. He continues to show life in his arm and solid use of his lower half. Gets on balance, but separation was not as good as we have seen it in the past. Trevor needs to continue to long toss and work on glove direction, consistent separation, and longer arm extension. Body will get stronger, but needs to clean up these mechanical issues to bridge the gap.

06/20/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Trevor continues to show improvement in his baseball abilities and his body that is well suited for the mound and shows projection as he continues to physically mature and firm up. He showed as a two-way player in the OF and on the mound but projects best on the mound where he has improved arm strength as he topped out at 86 mph on the mound. Fastball shows tail as he uses his body to work on a strong downhill plane creating tough angles on hitters. Breaking ball displayed an 11/5 shape with tight spin. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Foot speed has improved, now an average runner at 7.50. He will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Defensive abilities in the OF are average and he needs to concentrate his work ethic on the mound, where his future lies. Trevor has an upside on the mound and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities on the mound.

12/07/2008 - College PREP - McCook, IL Trevor is a tall, lean right hander with a loose arm and a fluid delivery. His stuff is average right now, but he separates on time and gets a bit out of his lower half. His extension needs to improve and would like to see him work in a straight line more consistently as well. As arm strength improves, he will see improvement on each pitch. Needs to continue to play a lot of long toss and improve his direction and extension.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
