Official Scouting Report

  • LHPPosition Projection

04/28/2019 - College PREP - Charlottesville, VA Trey is a lean, athletic LHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Trey gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Trey shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71 mph. Breaking ball sits from 63-64 mph with 1/7 break. Changeup sits from 68-69 with sink mph but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He takes a level swing and makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Overall, Trey is a talented prospect who should find success throughout his freshmen season.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Trey is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, this LHP gets to a strong balance point as he delivers a 3-pitch mix. He pounds his CB/KN for strikes and works in line towards his target. Defensively at 1B, he shows solid footwork around the bag. He gets into a square fielding position on GB's and fires throws that carry to his target. At the plate, Trey displays a tall setup. He strides short to each pitch as he takes aggressive hacks through the zone. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Develop soft hands
2. Smooth backhand glove
3. Quick exchange to throw
Pitching
1. Keep FB down in zone
2. Better tempo
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed/hands
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
