07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Trey showed well both in the OF and in the mound during his time in Pirate City. Defensively, Trey has active feet, good pre-pitch actions, and he tracks well off the bat. He fields with consistency, gains momentum toward his target, and throws with a loose/quick arm action with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Trey works quickly, he hides the ball well, and he uses his lower body. His CB compliments his FB well and he attacks hitters aggressively. At the plate, Trey flashes some pop in his bat through a balanced set-up and square stride. He has fast bat speed and is able to create backspin on the ball.

02/12/2017 - College PREP - Monticello, IA Trey is a lean, athletic RHP/OF and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He attacks the baseball, whipping the bat through the zone, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through well. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 80-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late/sharp break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Trey has a ton of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
