06/10/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Trey continues to show improvements in his baseball tools and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.94. Receiving / blocking skills are near a pro level as he shows off his athletic abilities. At the plate, he continues to shine. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (91 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

08/08/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Trey continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with an excellent future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. The baseball comes off his bat differently as he will hit and hit with power. At the event, he was 6 for 8 with 3 2B and a 3B. Behind the plate, pop times were in the low 2.00 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. He is vocal and shows great leadership traits behind the dish. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 2 years to further develop, Trey has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

06/05/2016 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Trey is an athletic, strong catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.02 range with accuracy on his throws. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Trey has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
