Official Scouting Report

  • 3BPosition Projection

12/04/2016 - College PREP - Crowley, TX Trey continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a short / level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he utilizes his lower half well with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft /sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry across the diamond.

07/15/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Trey is a young, solid, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Trey showed active footwork, sure hands, and he fields in a square position out in front of his body. He attacks aggressively, his exchange is clean, and he throws with carry from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Trey has a short back arm action, he works to his balance point well, and he keeps his shoulders level. He has proper separation, he finishes well, and he competes in the zone. At the plate, Trey has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he stays inside the ball well. He has a short swing, a line drive approach, and he lets the ball travel well. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Soften backhand
2. Loosen glove arm
Pitching
1. Direction
2. Loosen back arm action
Offense
1. Loosen grip

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
