Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

12/03/2017 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Trey is a lanky, athletic RHP/OF who will graduate in 2019. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Trey has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
