Official Scouting Report

  • 2BPosition Projection

06/07/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Birmingham, AL Trey continues to show improvements in his abilities on the mound. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball shows arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with short break. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are quick and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Trey showed well at both positions during his time at Spring Training. At 2nd base, Trey has a good 1st step to the ball, footwork is efficient, and he squares up well to the ball. He fields on time, uses 2 hands, and throws with a short/accurate arm across the diamond. On the mound, Trey shows solid confidence, good balance, and he lands with good direction toward home plate. He separates his hands on time, his FB touched 71 MPH, and he competes well in the zone. Offensively, this LHH has an open stance, loose hands, and he takes a square stride toward the pitcher. He swings in good rhythm, makes level/consistent contact, and he hits line drives. Trey is team player who showed hard work in AZ.

12/01/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Pensacola, FL Trey is a RHP/2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Trey shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 62mph with 10-4 break. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Trey improve as a pitcher. In the field, Trey makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Trey can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He barrels up the baseball and produces solid line drives. Maintaining center balance throughout his swing can help Trey improve as a hitter. Overall, Trey is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/17/2019 - College PREP - Montgomery, AL Trey is a lean RHP/2B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and aggressive, working through a level swing path. He loads well and utilizes his lower half well with rhythm. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Trey has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
