09/12/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Tripp continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 3 with a 2B. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Tripp is a long, athletic prospect with positional versatility and feel for the game to contribute in all areas. He has advanced feel to hit with the ability to make consistent contact and the bat speed that will continue translating to more hard hit balls. He loads to a stacked position and stays balanced throughout his swing to square up any pitch thrown to him. His lower half is strong and generates a quick bat through the zone on a short path to cover the strike zone and make consistent contact. In the field, he uses active feet and athleticism to cover his position well and center the ball in his body to field. He works from the ground up with soft hands and makes accurate throws to his target. A long toss program will help improve arm strength moving forward. Tripp is an intriguing, young prospect with plenty of potential in the game.

07/18/2017 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Tripp is a talented 3B/OF prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2021. As a left-handed hitter, Tripp has a square setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He takes a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Tripp does a nice job staying inside the baseball with his hands. He has a middle of the field approach and is a contact type hitter. At the hot corner, Tripp plays with effective pre-pitch actions and active footwork showing solid range to his glove side. He presents his glove and attacks the baseball. Tripp has a long arm action throwing from a low 3/4 arm slot. He shows a smooth double play feed and is developing arm strength. In the outfield, Tripp shows solid pre-pitch actions and does a nice job working around the baseball. He presents his glove and takes the proper angles to field the ball in a square position. He stays behind the baseball and works through it showing consistent throws. Overall, Tripp has talent on both sides of the ball and good potential to take his game to the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
