Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Tripp Ortiz is a 2027 2B/RHP prospect out of Oxford, MI. In the field he displays an accurate arm and does a good job of keeping balls in front of him. With improved pre-pitch movements he should be able to get his feet in better fielding positions. At the plate he has a squared, relaxed stance and activated load. He does a good job of hitting line drives with hard, consistent contact. Love his aggressiveness on the base paths. On the mound, Tripp displays an ability to throw strikes with his FB and CH. Stays on time with his separation and stays on-line to his target. Does a good job of keeping a FB arm speed on his CH. Has a feel for pitching and high level to compete.

09/25/2022 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Tripp is a 2B prospect who will graduate in 2027. In the field, Tripp takes a good prep step and creates good angles. He makes the routine plays and has a clean exchange, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Tripp field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He works through a direct swing and produces solid contact. Tripp can barrel up more baseballs by working a smoother load into his swing. With five more years to develop, Tripp has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
