05/28/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Trippe is an athletic OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Trippe uses his speed to cover ground and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate with great carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Overall, Trippe is a talented prospect who shows the skill set to contribute at the next level.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Trippe is a tall, lean OF/RHP who has a tremendous future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays outstanding defensive abilities. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus (6.93 60 time) as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line zip (90 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate he continues shine, displaying tremendous hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm action is loose, free, and quick. Fastball shows a range of 82-83 mph on a downhill plane with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Trippe has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
