Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Tristan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a tall, closed setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he makes consistent hard contact. At the event, he was 3 for 4 with 2 BB as he shows a patient approach and strong recognition of the strike zone. At 2B, he displays smooth/clean actions. We want to see Tristan present his hands out in front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on double play feeds/turns. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-74 mph with arm side run. Control is well above average as he throws strikes, locating to both sides of the plate. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/27/2017 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Tristan is a well-rounded 2B/RHP prospect who graduates in 2019. In the field, Tristan plays with quick, fluid footwork and shows good range. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low position. Tristan has a quick, clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistently online throws. Offensively, Tristan has a closed stance with a centered balance. He takes a closed stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Tristan has an on-plane swing path. He tracks the ball well and has a line drive approach. On the mound, Tristan has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on his target and repeats his mechanics. Tristan has a loose, quick arm action. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. His fastball and changeup have late run movement. Overall, Tristan has a versatile skill set and potential to get even better.

10/29/2017 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Tristan is a young, 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2019. In the INF, Tristan has efficient footwork, he moves well to the ball and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He makes the routine plays, has a clean exchange, and some accuracy across the diamond to his target. Defensive skills can improve if Tristan can attack the ball more aggressively, sure-up his glove, and add arm strength. Offensively, Tristan has a square/athletic set-up, a proper load, and he stands in well balanced. He swings with aggressiveness, has some feel for the barrel of the bat, and makes contact consistently. Tristan can improve at the plate if he can use more lower body, add bat speed, and get more extension through the baseball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
