Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

04/07/2019 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Tristan is a 2B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Tristan shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields with soft hands out in front of his body. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. Making a cleaner exchange can help Tristan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Tristan can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Tristan works with a free arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph. Breaking ball sits from 66-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 68-69mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Tristan improve as a pitcher. Overall, Tristan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
