01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Pirate City Tristan is a lean, solid OF/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.34 60 time. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He plays hard and shows a ton of energy and backs up bases, showing plus instincts. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, Longsdon shows a squared, athletic stance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach. Power numbers will increase as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 2 for 6. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-75 mph. Breaking ball displays flat shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop better feel for pitch with movement. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Tristan has abilities with time and room to improve.
