11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Tristen showed improvements to his foot speed and hit ability since his last Baseball Factory outing. Behind the dish, he focused on his stances and footwork to throw. Keeping his arm action short will help to quicken the release and drop his pop times. At third, he showed an idea of the footwork, but just needs to make it a little more fluid, playing through ground balls. At the dish, he showed good balance and quick bat speed. Maximizing barrel accuracy will increase his hit ability and consistency of hard contact. Overall - Tristen is a quiet hustler that shows passion and enthusiasm for the game.

06/27/2013 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Tristan is a tall athletic catcher/3B who has a lot of potential. Behind the plate Tristan has a strong base and receives the ball with firm hands and has a quick/clean exchange to throw. Getting a little more sway in his body will allow him to loosen up and get down to block faster. At 3B Tristan centers the ball well and throws across the diamond accurately. Using his legs more and getting in a lower fielding position will help him smooth out his mechanics in the field. Offensively, Tristan has a good stride and load and gets his lower half thru. He makes consistent contact as a pull hitter. Tristan will continue to improve offensively by adding some rhythm to his swing, not allowing his backside to break-down and keeping the barrel more inside the baseball. With his size and athleticism Tristan could have a lot of potential at the next level with continued work on his mechanics.

05/05/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Tristen is a tall and thin, 2-way player who catches and plays 3B. Behind the plate, Tristen has soft hands, active feet, and he sticks the ball well. He drops quickly to block, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a long arm action with accuracy to 2nd base. At 3B, Tristen has sure hands, he fields athletically, and he throws with a loose arm action across the diamond. Offensively, Tristen has a square set-up, a direct barrel to the ball, and he shows good bat control. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

1. Gain ground
2. Blocking
3. Arm strength
Infield
1. Play lower
2. Glove down sooner
Offense
1. Rhythm / Timing
2. Shorten swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
