08/26/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Tristen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft / clean with setup improving as he improves his flexibility. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but will benefit by getting down sooner. At the plate, he showed an open setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He uses his lower half well and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side.

05/27/2018 - College PREP - Murfreesboro (Nashville), TN Tristen continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active working in line to his target. Pop times will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. He tracks the ball well but needs to present a lower target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared / crouch setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach.

08/20/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Tristen continues to improve his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he has improved his power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, working to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He leads with his lower half and makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone but needs to widen his base to improve setup behind the dish. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner and improve lateral movement to improve grade. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. He did not throw any off speed at the event.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Tristen continues show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.14. Throws display accuracy and on line carry through his target. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process with tool improving as he creates better angles to deaden ball. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows great barrel accuracy through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he displays a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 67-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He shows good composure and competes on the mound. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Tristen has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

08/21/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Tristen continues to show improvements in his baseball tools with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.21. Feet work in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, he improved his hitting power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. He shows a quick tempo and work through a repeatable delivery. Fastball shows good arm side run and he hides the ball well. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
