Official Scouting Report

  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Troy is an OF/LHP who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame lean build with some strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF, good reads off bat and efficient footwork enables him to take good routes to balls. Square fielding position as he fields ball out front with ability to make routine plays. Throws from a over the top arm slot with an arm velocity of 79 mph into infield. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher works with good tempo. Good direction towards plate and ability to throw strikes. Attacks hitters with a FB that was up to 75mph, and a breaking ball 1/7 shape. In 2 innings of work, Troy induced 3 weak popups and a strikeout looking. A left-handed hitter, starts with an athletic and tall stance. Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Showed good awareness of the strike zone. Had 4 hits in 9 at-bats of live game action. Simple and balanced swing with ability to hit balls to all fields with a recorded bat exit velocity of 75 mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

10/10/2021 - All-In Membership - Dayton, OH Troy is a lean LHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands-on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three-pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Troy has potential with time and room to improve his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
